Scottish Labour warns of gaps in Awaab's Law coverage of temporary accommodation
Scottish Labour housing spokesperson Mark Griffin MSP warned that Scotland's Awaab's Law damp and mould protections leave gaps in temporary accommodation, citing the independent Regulatory Review Group's concerns that short-term lets, homeless temporary accommodation and workforce accommodation are not covered. Griffin has written to the cabinet secretary asking whether the government will extend the timescale protections to all temporary accommodation and assess damp and mould prevalence in uncovered stock. This is political advocacy and a letter, not an enacted rule change; the underlying regulations took effect 6 October 2026.
