National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate: Scoring Notice - Request for Public Comment
HUD published a Federal Register notice (91 FR 61432, September 29, 2026) requesting public comment on three proposed revisions to the NSPIRE Scoring Notice: (1) incorporating the existing October 1, 2026 compliance date for new affirmative requirements (fire doors, GFCI outlets, guardrails, HVAC, interior lighting, electrical) that was previously extended by Notice PIH 2025-27; (2) a sample size table correction; (3) a mathematical correction to a scoring example. Comments are due November 30, 2026. The October 1, 2026 compliance date was established by a prior HUD extension, not by this notice. The NSPIRE Scoring Notice does not apply to HCV and PBV programs. This is a scoring methodology revision, not a new mold-specific rule.
