FAQ: Is damage from mold covered? | FEMA
FEMA FAQ (last updated April 15, 2025) describes two forms of assistance for mold after disasters: (1) Home Repair funds for cleanup/removal/remediation of disaster-caused mold, available when FEMA verifies the home is uninhabitable due to the disaster-caused mold; (2) Clean and Sanitize Assistance, available in certain disasters for homes with minor damage that can still be lived in safely, providing limited funds to prevent mold growth. National Flood Insurance Program policies do not cover mold damage. Eligibility is conditional on disaster declaration and individual assessment; this FAQ does not state that applications are open for any specific disaster.
